MOLINE, IL - No. 2 seed UNI advanced to the MVC Tournament championship for the fourth time in school history, beating No. 6 seed Evansville 82-58 in the second semifinal Saturday at the iWireless Center in Moline, Illinois.
The Panthers finished the game with a season-high 15 made three-point field goals which ranks second in MVC Tournament history. Angie Davison tied the MVC tourney record with seven three-point field goals and Madison Weekly added six. Davison led all scorers with 21 points, while Weekly added 20 points with six assists.
Evansville received 16 points and six rebounds from Sara Dickey in the loss as the senior finished her career with 2,099 points (6th in MVC history).
UNI advances to Sunday's MVC Women's Basketball Tournament championship and will take on top-seeded Drake at 2:00 (CT). This will be the first time both schools have met for the tournament crown and the first time the top two seeds have met for the MVC title since 2002 (Creighton vs. Drake).
